the worst job i have ever done

when i was 17 i left school and joined a bank. i was sick of studying and doing exams, so i decided not to go to university. At the bank i was the most junior member of staff so i had to do all the crappy jobs. In scotland, as you know, we all probably drink too much, and a consequence of drinking too much is throwing up. People occasionally threw up over our cash machine - and i would have to go out and clean it ! this is probably the worst job i have had to do... but i got my foot in the door, and then worked for 12 very intersting years for them in 4 different countries, so i can't complain.

over to you - what is the worst job you have ever done ?

At the age of 16 I loved to go to the Zoo (still do actualy)and one day an oportunity for me to work part time there showed up.
I accepted thinking being a Zoo keeper would be fun. It is until you face a dirty elephant cage (with no elephats obviously) with a shovel, a bucket and a high pressure hose...
When I left I had a great respect for those who do that every day!

When I was 19 years old, I joined a company called Mercer for one month in the summer in order to replace their receptionist, who was on holidays. My tasks were answering the phone, printing the documents that my colleagues sent to my computer, making photocopies, posting letters and serving coffee whenever there were meetings. Everything was a bed of roses until I had to make some photocopies but they were not good enough to hand the boss. As I asked for help, all my colleagues stood up of their chairs and came see the crap I had made and one of them immediately offered to fix my slapdash job. I’ve never met people so full of themselves as my colleagues at Mercer! From that day on I tried to do the best I could, but the pressure was so high and I was so afraid of doing rubbish again that I couldn’t avoid making the destroying paper machine go on the blink. I thought that after that I would be fired, but I wasn’t and my contract was renewed for more 15 days. The punishment wasn't that bad, but I swore to God that I would never work for Mercer again. I burnt my bridges with this company and I don't miss the times when I worked there.

Up to now, I only had one job experience.
This was last year: I worked as a consultant for a big multinational IT consultancy company.
What can I say? Despite not being the job of my dreams, it wasn’t that bad at all. I received initial training and while I was in training I was given the opportunity to travel to Barcelona.
The work itself was quite dynamic and challenging and the tasks I performed were mostly ‘on-the-job-training’ tasks. Besides, the company social environment was excellent.
The-not-so-good thing about it was that 90% of my colleagues were workaholic and almost always we never left before 9 pm. Plus we were always working on a tight schedule which was very stressful.
I reckon that I’ve gained important experience and now I know what is like to work in a multinational company which can be an added-value for future job opportunities. Overall, this was a mixed blessing.
